Arroyo Seco Park at Avenue 64 and Marmion Way Walkers from both directions
entered the southbound lanes of the Parkway and came together
in Sycamore Grove Park for the community festival. The walk featured decorative
banners from local schools about the Arroyo, music from the Nightingale
Middle School band and the Spirit of the Arroyo puppet, parents
pulling children in wagons and pushing babies in strollers. Walkers returned
to their starting points using the little known bike path located
in the Arroyo Seco Flood Control Channel. In future years, Gold
Line Light Rail service will allow easy access to festival locations
and sites. This total distance
for the walk was one to three miles round trip from Los Angeles
parks, depending on the starting location. The distance from Pasadena
was four miles one way or eight miles round trip. |
